The Corporate Manslaughter Act 2007 took effect on 6th April 2008 and was a landmark in UK Law. Companies and organisations since then can be found guilty of Corporate Manslaughter as a result of serious management failures resulting in a gross breach of a relevant duty of care. Failure to comply with the Act can result in considerable penalties or fines. In addition to the duties you have as an employer under the road traffic law you also must take into consideration Health and Safety. Most significantly is the requirement of each company to ensure that any individual who drives in the course of their job or for business purposes must have their competency assessed.
We can also advise you on driving policy and complete checks of all documentation required by the legislation – taking the burden from clients simply and effectively.

Fleet Driver Assessments
Some employers believe that as long as they check that their drivers meet certain road traffic law requirements, (e.g. a full valid licence and the vehicle has an MOT certificate), that this is enough to ensure the safety of this employee and others when they are on the road. This is incorrect!
The assessment is carried out in your vehicle and a full written report will be issued for your records. If some of your drivers need some additional training we can tailor a training session specifically based on your (and their) requirements.
Our assessments include:
- Licence checking
- Eyesight checks
- Vehicle familiarisation
- On-road assessment
- Driver attitude
- On-road training recommendation/requirements
Our Corporate driver / Fleet training is specifically tailored to suit your company’s needs as no two companies will be identical. The Fleet training provides many benefits to employers (and employees) as well as helping you to comply with the law.
In today’s financial environment, companies are constantly looking for ways to reduce their expenses ( including fuel bills, general vehicle running costs etc.) therefore, increasingly become interested in Eco-safe driving methods. Developing the correct attitudes in your drivers, not only saves lives but can also reduce fuel usage.
Tony Shaw Driving provides occupational driver assessments and fleet driving training throughout Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Monmouthshire, Worcestershire, Avon and Somerset, Wiltshire and South Wales.
